PROBLEM
A community college was concerned about the safety of students and faculty due to increased violence at educational institutions across the country.
SOLUTION
DH Pace proposed replacing the existing aluminum and glass doors in the building’s hallways with ballistic-resistant doors and glass. New Level 7 Ballistic Glass and aluminum doors were installed. Level 7 bullet resistant glass is designed to withstand multiple hits from an assault rifle without shattering. Due to the weight of the new doors and frames, some of the surrounding wall required additional bracing as well. The result is the college is now more secure and students and faculty are confident knowing they have an extra layer of protection from intruders.
